Time Off Request Override: When is it supported?

To allow overlapping requests, make sure Request override is enabled in the relevant policy types:

  1. Go to TimeTime off settings Policy types

  2. Click on the relevant policy type

  3. Then click on ActionsEdit

  4. Under Request override, select Allowed

Some initial considerations:

  1. The first request must come from a policy type where Request override is set to Allowed. The second request can come from any policy, whether Request override is enabled or not.

  2. Double-counting is not supported when two full-day requests overlap.

  3. If any of a set of overlapping requests are cancelled or deleted, balances are automatically restored.

  1. If a request was originally submitted while “Different number of hours each day” was enabled, the request must be deleted and resubmitted after changing the policy configuration. Existing requests do not retroactively update when policy settings change.

  2. Open-ended requests [see note 3 below] don’t block overlaps, but when an end date is set, they are treated as a range of full-day requests, so all previously existing requests are reduced to 0 days’ deduction.

How to read the tables

The order of the requests shown in the tables does not affect the result.

For example, “Full day + Half day” behaves the same as “Half day + Full day”.

Hello!

I have a few comments regarding the current set-up.

It would be very helpful if we could set it up the other way around—that is, enable an override feature in the policy that is supposed to override other types of absences. I have an example of a sick leave policy that should override other types of absences. So I’d like to enable this option in the settings for this policy, instead of going into each policy individually and selecting that it can be overridden. In the current setup, I would at least add a dropdown list for selecting the policy that can override a given absence.

Thanks,
Anna
