Time Off Import Error: "This policy does not allow requesting time off for custom hours"

You’ll see this error when the time off policy is configured to allow requests "Between specific hours" (shown below).

When using this specific setting, it's not supported to import requests stating the exact hours they start and end. Here are your options:

Option A: Keep the current policy setting

You can still import requests by adjusting how they’re submitted.

1. Requests equal to a full day:

   Import them as full-day requests by entering only the start date. Bob will use each employee’s working pattern to deduct the correct number of hours.

2. Requests equal to consecutive full days:

   Combine them into one row with a start date and end date. Bob will again calculate the total hours based on the working pattern.

3. Requests equal to a half day:

   Import them as morning or afternoon requests instead.

4. Any other hour-based cases:

   These must be added manually in Bob (or use Option B for these cases only).
    

Option B: Change the policy setting temporarily

Switch the policy to “Number of hours” while you complete the import.

Bob will then import requests as a duration of hours, without requiring start/end times.

If the setting is later changed back, any edits to those requests are possible, but will follow the policy setting at the time of editing (that is, e.g., if your policy is set up for requests "Between specific hours" and you try to edit a duration-based request, you will be prompted to state a start and end date and make it a request between specific hours).
