If you’re looking to send shift-based attendance reminders or control who can manually edit attendance entries, here’s what’s currently possible in Bob.
Shift-based attendance reminders
Attendance policies do not currently support reminders based on specific shift start or end times. This means you can’t trigger a notification 5 minutes before, exactly at, or at the end of an employee’s shift.
The available reminder within the attendance policy is the **Missing Attendance Entry** notification, which can be configured on a recurring basis.
Using custom employee fields to store shift start and end times won’t provide a workaround for this. While task lists can be scheduled, they can’t be triggered based on time-of-day values stored in custom fields.
Restrict employees from editing attendance entries
You can prevent employees from manually adding or editing their attendance entries, but keep Bob’s cumulative permission logic in mind.
If the **Edit Time Attendance Sheet** permission is granted through any permission group an employee belongs to, they will still be able to edit their attendance.
To restrict access:
- Remove the **Edit Time Attendance Sheet** permission from the **All People - Own Data** permission group.
- Create a separate custom permission group for employees who should retain editing access.
- Assign only those employees to the new permission group.
Managers and admins can still manage attendance on employees’ behalf. Admins can access employee attendance sheets from **Time > People's Attendance**, and managers can review their employees’ attendance records there before submission.
Correct submitted or closed timesheets
If an employee has already submitted their timesheet and a correction is needed, the approver must first decline the submission before it can be edited.
For a closed attendance cycle, an admin must extend the cycle before corrections can be made.
Monitor manually added or edited attendance
As an additional measure, you can enable alerts for manually added or edited attendance entries in the attendance policy settings.
You can also schedule a Time and Attendance report to give managers regular visibility into these changes.
