What should I expect if I trigger a task list manually and the task list has tasks with conditions?
When you trigger a task list manually and you have tasks that should trigger on the trigger date that include conditions, Bob will check at the moment of triggering if the condition exists and if not he will not trigger this task AT ALL.
This means that if the condition is not met on the time of triggering, Bob will not try to trigger it again.
However, if you have other scheduled tasks in the future, Bob will keep on checking until the triggering of those tasks if the condition is met.
Now lets explain this with an example:
Lets say I have a task list with one task that has a condition.
If I trigger it manually and the condition is met on the time of triggering - The task will trigger.
If I trigger it manually and the condition is not met on the time of triggering - The task will trigger not trigger not now and not in the future.
Now lets say I have a task list with 2 tasks:
1. Task on trigger date with a condition
2. Task 5 days after trigger date with or with out condition(it doesn’t matter)
If I trigger it manually and the condition is met on the time of triggering - The task will trigger.
If I trigger it manually and the condition is not met on the time of triggering - The task will trigger not trigger now but Bob will keep checking every 6 hours until 5 days if this condition is met.
The reason is while there is a scheduled task active, Bob will keep checking this task list every 6 hours.
This means that if we meet the condition of the first task in up to 5 days, the task will trigger.
If we don’t meet the condition in 5 days and the second task triggered, the first task will not trigger anymore.
How can we avoid this use case?
Conditions for tasks are meant to be used when you auto-schedule a task list so if you know you trigger a task list manually, you need to consider if you need this condition.
