Difference between triggering a task list from a flow and from auto-scheduling

Basically the difference is in the moment the task will be triggered.

If the task list is set in the flow, it will be triggered when the flow is completed, meaning that all the timings in the tasks will be based on that moment.

If the task list has an anchor date, it will be triggered based on the selected date as well as all the timings in the tasks.

Note: We strongly recommend to use only one trigger event, as adding a scheduled task list to a flow will trigger the task list twice.

@Fernando Silva this is super helpful…. i am now changing my tasks that have anchors as they are trigger twice because i have them associated to flows. i.e. new hires and terminations.

What i had done is have flows linking to different termination types but all flows had a trigger anchor of termination date… so it was firing twice! thank you :)

I am working on a clients hibob environment and there system ISNT actually triggering it twice…

They have the task list linked in the flow, and it also uses an anchor of last working day via auto scheduling in the task list itself.

Not that I want to break it, but how does that work?

Hi @Abigail-A-Watt

Without investigating, we won’t be able to understand more.

Keep an eye out for any double triggering, and let the support team know if this happens 🤓

Hi,

We have a same scenario as @Abigail-A-Watt, our Termination flow is set up with Offboarding task list. This triggers when termination is submitted. The Offboarding task list is set up “Based on a date field:
Termination date” and the associated tasks are then built using Termination Date as trigger eg ‘3 days before Termination’ and due date ‘3 days after triggered’. This appears to be working as expected, tasks are not triggered twice; they based off the termination date etc.

Additionally, if I set the Offboarding task list to trigger manually (since it’s attached to the termination flow), I’m not able to set the tasks within the task list to trigger based off the Termination date? I’d want some tasks to trigger immediately, others x days before or after termination date.
