Bob Benchmarks timelines and updates

Currently, Bob benchmarks are updated by quarter (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, Oct-Dec).

This means that, if a survey is started in January, there can't be a comparable benchmark rating for the same quarter at that time. It will be updated in the next quarter.

Benchmarking results can only be compared with results from the same quarter. So, if you have a survey from the last quarter, you'll be able to see the benchmarking results there.

Hi Ana!
I'm new to Bob and we're running our very first company survey soon. I've written a short article for our people managers about benchmarking, and I used some of the information from you and the help center.

Did I get it right? Is everything correct?
I really appreciate any feedback!

My article:

Short explanation about benchmarking in Bob and what it means for our survey

In Bob, benchmark data is updated once every quarter. This means that all survey answers from all Bob customers are collected and analysed by quarter:

  • Q1: January–March
  • Q2: April–June
  • Q3: July–September
  • Q4: October–December

When a quarter is finished, Bob creates the benchmark. Only then can we compare our results to others – but only with results from the same quarter.

Important to know:

  • We can only compare with the same quarter.
  • Benchmarks are not available until the quarter is over.

What this means for us:
Our survey is planned from 29 September to 12 October. Because it ends in October, Bob will count it as a Q4 survey.
This means we will not see any benchmark data right away. It will come in January, after Q4 is finished.

We will still see our own results, but we cannot compare them to other companies until the benchmark is ready.

Hi @MoBra

Yes, your explanation is spot on, and it's a great summary of how benchmarking works in Bob.

To confirm:

  • Benchmark data is aggregated quarterly (Q1–Q4).

  • Benchmarks are only available after the quarter ends.

  • So, if your survey wraps up in October, it will be counted as part of Q4, and benchmark comparisons will become available in January.

  • You’ll still see your own internal results right away, but will need to wait for the quarter to close to see how they compare to others.

You’ve captured it clearly, and your team should find it helpful 🤓
