To prevent emails from being sent to employees during testing in the sandbox environment, Bob is designed so that no emails are sent from the sandbox to employees' email addresses.

If you want emails to be sent to employees from the sandbox environment, you will need to add their email addresses to the approved email list. Here’s how you can do that:

Click the waffle icon > System Settings > Account > Sandbox

Then navigate to the Actions menu > MAnage Approved Emails > and add employee's email > Save

@Netta Brodsky are you able to provide more information on how the alias emails work? I’ve read the following articles and watched the demo video but something just isn’t clicking and I can’t get my head around it.

I want to use sandbox to test our upcoming performance and compensation cycle, and want to preview the emails/notifications that will be sent to certain stakeholders. I’ve added my work email to the approved emails list in Settings > Account > Sandbox

In Sandbox when I go to directory to look at emails, they do not have the .sbx suffix (which I understand is correct as this is no longer used with the current version of sandbox).

Am I right that even though the emails in sandbox have not been changed, nobody will receive emails unless their email address is on the approved email list in sandbox settings?

If I have entered my email ( joywhittaker@company.com ) into the approved list, will Bob recognise joywhittaker+1@company.com as being approved, or will I have to add the +1 alias to the approved email list?

Can I use joywhittaker+1@company.com for multiple people in sandbox or do work emails in sandbox have to be unique (e.g. +1, +2, +3 etc.)

Many thanks!

Hi Joy - Thank you for your questions! 🙏🏻

To clarify: only email addresses listed in the approved email list in the sandbox settings will receive emails from the sandbox environment.

The solution of adding aliases like +1, +2 to an existing email address usually works. However, please note that not all email servers support this method.

I recommend testing this by adding an alias (e.g., joywhittaker+1@company.com) to the approved email list and confirming that you receive the emails. This way, you can ensure everything is set up correctly.

Let me know how it goes 😄

Hi @Netta Brodsky

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

We have tested manually sending emails to a +1 alias and it is supported by our company email server. Can I clarify that we do need to add the +1 alias email to the approved email list?

If yes to the above, could I suggest that the wording in the help article should be updated:

Many thanks

@Joy Whittaker You should not have to add every alias to the approved section. How was your test with the emails?

Joy Whittaker

@Pranhita Sharma The issue was with our email security. + Addressing is only enabled for internal emails. External emails can only be sent to a direct match in the global directory, so any + addresses were being blocked. So no luck on our end, but outside of Bob’s control :) Many thanks!
