If you see an “An error occurred while validating entities” message when trying to remove or change a recruiter, it’s usually caused by a mismatch in the job field linked to the hiring setup.
This can happen even if everything looks correct on the surface, especially when a job was previously selected and is no longer valid in the backend.
Here’s how to resolve it:
Go to the job opening where you're trying to update the hiring team
Locate the Job field (the dropdown tied to the position)
Select any job from the dropdown
Open the dropdown again and click the same job to remove it (clear the selection)
This action resets the field in the backend and clears the invalid reference. Once that’s done, you should be able to update or remove the recruiter without hitting the error.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
If the recruiter field is left empty in certain flows, the system may throw an error
Reassigning the recruiter alone may not work if the job field is causing the conflict
This issue is not necessarily related to the recruiter being inactive or terminated—it’s typically tied to the job selection behind the scenes
If you're still blocked after clearing the job field, double-check that:
The job opening is active and properly configured
All required hiring fields are valid and populated
