Troubleshoot Common Goals Import Errors

If your goals import fails, the error message can help you identify which value or field needs to be updated before trying the import again.

1. “Tag does not currently exist”

If you see an error such as “Tag does not currently exist – ‘…’ not found”, the value entered in the **Tags** column does not exactly match a tag that exists in Bob.

Check that the tag name in your import file matches the name in Bob exactly, including spelling, spaces, and capitalization. Even a small difference can cause the import to fail.

2. “Cycle ‘…’ not found”

The Goal Cycle Name column is optional.

If this error appears, delete the Goal Cycle Name column from your import file and try the import again. This column isn't required for the import to succeed.

3. “Due date is required for Key Result X”

When adding a key result, you must provide a due date for that key result.

If this error appears, add the missing due date and try again. A key result can't be saved or processed without its required due date.

4. “Date Range not provided or is incorrect”

The Time Frame field only supports predefined values. For example, entering “Date range” isn't supported and will cause an error.

Use one of these values instead: Previous quarter, This quarter, This half, Next quarter, Previous year, This year, Next year.

5. “‘dd/mm/yyyy’ is not a valid date”

This error means the dates in your import file don't match the expected date format.

If your system expects a different format, check the formatting in Excel before importing:

  1. Right-click a date cell.
  2. Select **Format Cells**.
  3. Set the date format to the required format.
  4. Make sure all date fields in the import file use the same expected format.
