Running into a “General error” when trying to send a document with eSign?

This can happen when a template becomes outdated or incompatible, the fix is simple and reliable.

What to do:

  1. Avoid duplicating the old template
If a template shows a general error, duplicating it will likely carry the issue over.

  2. Create a new template from scratch
Rebuilding it from the ground up ensures you’re working with a clean version.
→ Go to Settings > eSign > Templates and click + New template

  3. Test the new version
Once rebuilt, try using the new template to send the document, the error should be resolved.

Why this happens

Sometimes, changes over time (like document updates or field mapping issues) can corrupt a template behind the scenes. Creating a fresh one is the safest way to reset it.
